I was very impressed by the overall variety and quality of the work. It was exciting to see such a range of concepts and styles from the entrants, and it makes me really excited for the future of illustration in Taiwan and beyond!

Young talented artists are “hidden and buried” and discourgaed by the merciless social media algorithm – what we do here is important. We need to create more opportunities, to discover, feature and showcase more good work especially by new artists.

I was impressed by the work of the artists in the competition for their exceptional use of color, captivating compositions, and innovative conceptualization. The conceptualization of their work showcased unique perspectives, storytelling elements, and cultural influences that truly set their illustrations apart. Overall, the talent and creativity displayed by these artists left a lasting impression on me.

There were so many varieties of topics, styles, and illustration approaches that showcased the wide range of mediums and visual voices shaped by the various personalities and cultures of the illustrators. It was enjoyable to see many illustrators from different origins and counties all coming together to submit their talents and share them with us.

While reviewing all the entries, I was struck by the wide range of styles, some of which I’d never seen. Working in the commercial arts, sometimes art styles can begin to bleed together and all seem the same, but in judging this competition, I was pleasantly surprised to see the artists of this next generation are still pushing boundaries and discovering uncharted artistic approaches.
