Submission Guidelines

I. Purpose of the Competition

IlloBoom! is dedicated to discovering illustration works with exceptional narrative power, originality, and visual voice.
We invite creators worldwide to define contemporary visual culture through illustration and to challenge the highest standards of creative excellence.


II. Eligibility

Age and Status

The competition is open to individual creators aged 18 or above, regardless of nationality or geographic location.

Portfolio Requirement

Applicants must provide a publicly accessible portfolio, such as Behance, ArtStation, a personal website, or a consistently maintained illustration-focused social media account (for example, an Instagram art account).

Purpose of Participation

This competition aims to connect outstanding illustrators with international industry resources.
Following the competition, the organizers will present the Top 50 Winners Gallery to leading art directors, publishers, and illustration agencies in Europe and North America.
Submitted platforms must demonstrate a cohesive artistic style and consistent creative output.

Artwork Eligibility Period

All submitted works must have been created or first publicly released between February 1, 2025, and April 1, 2026.

Prior Publication

Works previously submitted to other international competitions or commercially published are eligible.

Accepted Media

All traditional, digital, and mixed media illustrations are accepted.


III. Prohibition of Generative AI

The use of generative artificial intelligence tools, including but not limited to Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and DALL·E, is strictly prohibited.

Review and Verification

The organizers reserve the right to conduct verification through international jurors and technical detection tools.

Burden of Proof

Participants must, upon request, provide verifiable evidence of the creative process within 48 hours, including sketches, layered files, or time lapse recordings.
Failure to provide sufficient proof, or reasonable suspicion of AI involvement, will result in immediate disqualification, without refund and without further explanation.


IV. Submission Categories

Commissioned Works

Client commissioned projects, including but not limited to advertising, book covers, editorial illustrations, picture books, licensing works, brand visuals, and merchandise development.

Uncommissioned Works

Non-commissioned works, including personal practice, unpublished concepts, experimental projects, and student works.


V. Submission Specifications

File Format

All submissions must be uploaded digitally in JPEG format, RGB color mode.

Image Size

Portrait or landscape images must be JPEG, 144 dpi, with the longest side not exceeding 1000 pixels.

File Naming Convention (Mandatory)

Single Work
ArtworkTitle_ArtistName
Example: Beautiful Animal_Alice Liddell

Series Works (2 to 5 images)
ArtworkTitle_ArtistName_SequenceNumber
Example: Beautiful Animal_Alice Liddell_01

Series submissions must demonstrate strong thematic or narrative continuity.
Top 50 selected artists will be required to submit 300 dpi print quality files for exhibition and promotion.


VI. Entry Fees and Benefits

Entry Fees

Single artwork NT$900
Series submission (2 to 5 works) NT$1,800

Participant Benefits

Avocado Digital Fine Art Printing
NT$300 printing voucher upon successful registration (valid until December 31, 2026).

Professional Color Management
Complimentary monitor calibration service (advance reservation required, on site only).

Award Ceremony Discount
All participants will receive a discount code for the Boom! Celebration awards event.


VII. Jury and Evaluation Criteria

Jury Process

Entries will be reviewed through preliminary and final rounds by an international jury of illustration professionals.

Evaluation Criteria

Originality
Distinctive and irreplaceable artistic voice

Narrative Strength
Ability to convey compelling themes and emotional resonance

Visual Composition
Balance, color application, and technical command of chosen media

Market Potential
Applicability across illustration related industries


VIII. Awards

Peak Best of Show Award (1)
One year illustration representation contract with Illozoo, including international promotion and business development

Merit Awards (4)
Jury Special Awards (5)
Finalists (40)

Recognition

All Top 50 artists will receive a digital certificate.

Exhibition

Selected works will be displayed on LED screens at the awards venue and promoted through official media channels.

Ceremony Access

Top 50 artists receive complimentary admission to the Boom! Celebration awards event (valued at NT$1,000).


IX. Squad Popularity Award

Team Formation

Following the announcement of the Top 50, selected artists will be divided into five teams of approximately 10 members each.

Team Task

Each team will be featured in an official collaborative post published on IlloBoom!’s social platforms.

Scoring

Likes account for 40 percent
Shares account for 60 percent

Personal account shares are included in scoring.

Awards

All team members receive the 2026 IlloBoom! Popular Squad digital badge.
One official group interview will be published.
Each team member receives 50 percent off a single submission for IlloBoom! 2027.


X. Announcement of Winners

The official list of award recipients will be announced on IlloBoom!’s platforms in mid May 2026.


XI. Rights and Usage

Winning and selected artists must provide high-resolution image files free of charge for exhibition, promotion, and printing related to IlloBoom! for one year following announcement.
Artists retain full copyright ownership of their works.


XII. General Terms

Entry fees are non-refundable under all circumstances.
Incomplete submissions may be rejected without notice.

Participants grant the organizer the right to use submitted works, artist names, and descriptions for promotional and exhibition purposes related to the competition.

Plagiarism, copyright infringement, misrepresentation, or AI-generated content will result in immediate disqualification and potential legal liability.

The organizers reserve the right to withhold awards if entries do not meet jury standards.

Dates and times are based on Taiwan Standard Time.

The organizers reserve the right to amend, modify, suspend, or cancel the competition.
Submission of an entry constitutes full acceptance of all rules and conditions.
