Chronicles of Nezha

Chronicles of Nezha is a large-scale risograph-printed collage artwork measuring 70×70 cm. Created to challenge the physical limits of risograph printing—which only allows for a maximum A3 print size—the piece was divided into multiple segments, printed separately, then precisely trimmed and assembled by hand.
The artwork draws from the Chinese legend of Nezha, retelling key turning points of his myth: his miraculous birth, the slaying of Ao Bing (son of the East Sea Dragon King), his self-sacrifice to protect his family and village, and finally his divine rebirth as the “Third Lotus Prince.” The flower-shaped composition uses each petal as a narrative panel, culminating in the central depiction of Nezha’s transformation—his new body formed from lotus roots and petals, holding his celestial weapons.
This work embodies personal and cultural transformation, as well as the spirit of rebirth, in both its narrative and technical aspects.
