Submission Guidelines
I. Eligibility:
- Individuals aged 18 and above are eligible to participate.
- Illustration works, both commissioned and uncommissioned, initially published between October 1, 2023, and April 5, 2024, are qualified for entry. Works previously submitted to other international competitions are also welcomed.
- Open to participants from all countries or regions.
- No restrictions on mediums or themes.
- Each entry will be evaluated by each member of the judging panel based on their respective categories.
- The use of generative AI generators (AI tools such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Dall.e, etc.) to create images for submission is strictly prohibited. Participants must provide evidence of their creative process if necessary to prove ownership of the work’s copyright. If any suspicion arises regarding the use of AI in the submitted works, they will be immediately disqualified from the competition without further explanation, regardless of the stage of the competition.
II. Artwork Specifications and Regulations:
- All submissions must be in electronic format.
Vertical images should be 144 dpi, in JPEG format, with a maximum length of 1000 pixels.
Horizontal images should be 144 dpi, in JPEG format, with a maximum length of 1000 pixels. - Naming convention for single images:
Title_Name
Example: Beautiful Animals_Alex Huang - Naming convention for series (2-5 images):
Title_Name_SequenceNumber
Example: Beautiful Animals_Alex Huang_01, Beautiful Animals_Alex Huang_02, and so on.
*A series refers to a set of images that are needed to convey an idea or story comprehensively.
High-resolution files will be requested for the top 50 entries.
VI. Entry Categories:
- Commissioned:
All commissioned illustration works, including editorial, books, advertisements, book publishing, picture books, image licensing, and brand promotion, among others. - Uncommissioned:
Illustration works not commissioned by clients or not used for any commercial purposes after being commissioned, such as personal creations, personal work peripherals, and avant-garde creations.
VII. Entry Fee:
- Single Image Submission: 900 TWD
- Series Image Submission: 1800 TWD
- All participants will receive discounts provided by Avocado Digital Micro-Spraying Output: a discount of 300 TWD (present the completion confirmation email in-store to enjoy) valid until December 31, 2024; free screen color calibration service (requires reservation two days in advance).
*When submitting a series of works, regardless of whether it’s 2-5 images on the same theme, please purchase a “series image submission ticket” for registration.
*After completing the registration fee payment, please fill out the “IlloBoom! Illustration Submission Form” provided in the ticket and upload the artwork to complete the registration process.
VIII. Judging Process:
Outstanding works will be selected from the entries, totaling 50 images to enter the “Top 50.”
IX. Evaluation Criteria:
Painting style, creativity, composition, and aesthetics, as well as the integration of theme and narrative to form unique illustrations.
X. Announcement of the Top 50:
The list of Top 50 entries will be announced on the official social media platforms of the competition, and individuals will be notified via email. Entrants are required to submit the necessary documents to the organizer by 11:59 PM on the specified date mentioned in the email notification. Failure to provide the required documents within the stipulated deadline will result in the forfeiture of the entrant’s eligibility. Non-selected participants will not receive separate notifications.
XI. Awards and Rewards:
- Best of the Best Award—Two winners – Illozoo Illustrator One-Year Contract
- Merit Award—Three winners – To be determined
- Judges’ Award—Five winners – To be determined
- The rest will be recognized as finalists, totaling 40.
- All participants will receive a discount code for the “Boom! Celebration Award Ceremony.”
- Top 50 finalists will receive free admission to the “Boom! Celebration Award Ceremony” (worth $1,000).
- Selected works will be displayed as backdrops and looped on screens at the venue during the “Boom! Celebration Award Ceremony.” The entries will be looped for the entire event. More awards and gifts will be updated on the IlloBoom! official website soon!Notes: High-resolution files of winning and selected works must be provided free of charge to IlloBoom! for exhibition, various promotions, and printing purposes. This usage is valid for one year from the announcement of the list of finalists.
XII. Announcement of Winners:
The list of winners of the Illustration Award is expected to be announced in mid-May 2024 on social media platforms.
*The ranking will be announced on the day of the Boom! Celebration and Awards Ceremony.

【Other Notes for Participants】
- All fields in the registration form must be filled out clearly and completely. The organizer reserves the right to reject incomplete or non-compliant submissions. All participants agree that their submission works, descriptive texts, author names, and profiles, among other related information, may be used by the organizer for various promotional activities such as the competition website, social media pages, various online platforms, promotional materials, exhibitions, etc.
- High-resolution files of winning and selected works must be provided free of charge to the organizer for use in promoting the event and introducing the creators within one year from the announcement of the list of finalists.
- Participants’ entries must not involve plagiarism, copyright infringement, or impersonation. If violations of the aforementioned rules are confirmed, the participant’s ranking may be immediately canceled without replacement. In addition to retrieving rewards and honors, the creator will be liable for legal consequences. The use of generative AI generators (such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Dall.e, etc.) to create images for submission is strictly prohibited in this competition. All participants must provide evidence of their creative process to prove ownership of the work’s copyright. If any suspicion arises regarding the use of AI in the submitted works, they will be immediately disqualified from the competition without further explanation, regardless of the stage of the competition. Participants should be aware that they are responsible for any consequences if they are found to have engaged in the aforementioned violations. If such actions affect the reputation of the competition, legal action may be pursued.International judges are capable of discerning AI-generated works, and the organizer also has programs to identify AI-generated works. If a selected participant’s work is found to be AI-generated upon program verification, the creator will be asked to provide compelling evidence for a rebuttal.
- Entries that do not meet the judging criteria will not be eligible for awards, and there will be no replacement or supplementation of awards in such cases.
- The organizers are responsible for diligently safeguarding the entries; however, they shall not be held liable for damages or losses incurred due to natural or uncontrollable circumstances, or during the mailing process.
- The entry fees submitted by participants are non-refundable under any circumstances.
- If the entries submitted by participants contain content that discriminates against or violates the cultural or moral values of different countries, the organizer reserves the right to disqualify such entries. Participants are solely responsible for any consequences arising from such actions.
- All dates and times mentioned in this event and call for entries are based on Taiwan Time.
- The regulations outlined in this document are not exhaustive. The organizer reserves the right to revise, modify, or cancel the competition at its discretion. Important announcements during the event period will be published on the organizer’s official website. For any inquiries, please contact the organizer directly.
- By completing the registration and submission process, participants are considered to have agreed to the above regulations and to abide by the rules of the competition. The organizer is not required to sign any additional documents.
