What is IlloBoom! Illustration Summit Challenge?
IlloBoom! Illustration Summit Challenge is a competition aimed at celebrating global illustration art. Located in Taiwan, it is open to illustrators, agencies, representatives, students, and teachers from around the world. It invites internationally renowned illustration industry professionals to serve as judges. The competition categories are divided into “Commissioned” for commercial publications and “Uncommissioned” for non-commissioned works.
What are the eligibility criteria for the competition?
Individuals aged 18 and above are eligible to participate in the competition, provided that their original illustration works were first published (including online) between October 1, 2023, and April 5, 2024. Works that have participated in other international competitions are also welcome in this event.
There are no restrictions on the subject matter or medium of creation; however, the visual illustrations must align with the theme and creative concept. Each submitted entry will be evaluated by the members of the judging panel according to their respective categories.
This competition adheres to the same standards as major international illustration competitions. It strictly prohibits the use of generative AI generators (such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Dall.e, etc.) to produce images for submission.
What are the key timings of the competition?
Receipt Date: From February 1st, 2024 to April 5th, 2024.
Finalist Announcement Date: May to June 2024
(Date to be announced on the receipt deadline).
Boom! Celebration (Award Ceremony): July 2024
(Date to be announced during the judging phase).
What are the prohibitions for entries?
This competition adopts the same standards as major international illustration competitions. It strictly prohibits the use of images generated by generative AI generators (such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Dall.e, etc.) for entry. If there is suspicion of AI-generated work, participants must provide evidence of the creative process to prove that AI assistance was not used and must ensure that they own the copyright to the work. If it is found that the entry may have used AI, regardless of the stage of the competition, it will be immediately disqualified without further explanation, and the participant will bear the corresponding consequences. International judges are able to distinguish AI-generated works, and the organizer also has programs to identify AI-generated works.
The organizer reserves the right to reject any works that discriminate against different national cultures or morals, infringe upon copyrights, or are not original.
How to register and pay the entry fee?

Can submissions be made via email with credit card information attached?
Sorry, we do not accept submissions via email. All submissions must be made through the registration form provided online.
Will the organizer confirm receipt of my submission?
When you register your submission through our online system and select a payment method, you will receive a confirmation email.
Are cash prizes provided?
Cash prizes are not provided. Please refer to the award regulations for details on the rewards.
What declarations does the organizer make?
The organizer reserves the right to reject any works that discriminate against different national cultures or morals, infringe upon copyrights, or do not meet the eligibility criteria. Participants’ entries must be original works, and the organizer retains the right to exhibit and promote them online. In case of copyright disputes, the organizer has the right to disqualify the entry.
This regulation may be subject to revisions, and the organizer reserves the right to amend, change, or cancel the competition. Important announcements during the event will be posted on the organizer’s website. For any inquiries, please contact the organizer. Upon completion of registration and submission, participants are deemed to have agreed to the above regulations and abide by the competition rules. The organizer is not required to sign any additional documents.
What specifications should entries adhere to?
Entries should be submitted in electronic format. Vertical images should have a resolution of 144 dpi, in JPEG format, with the longest side being 1000 pixels. Horizontal images should also have a resolution of 144 dpi, in JPEG format, with the longest side being 1000 pixels. The file names should adhere to the regulations specified.
How many entries can one person submit per category?
Each participant can submit up to five different works in a single category. Both individual illustrations and illustration series are considered as one submission for the participant, regardless of whether it’s a single illustration or a series of illustrations.
What are the competition categories?
(1) Commissioned – Commercial Publishing
This category includes all commissioned illustration works, such as editorial, books, advertisements, book publishing, image licensing, and brand promotion.
(2) Uncommissioned – Personal
This category encompasses illustration works that have not been commissioned by clients or have not been used for any commercial purposes after being commissioned. Examples include personal creations, printing of personal works for peripherals, and avant-garde creations.
How to edit a submitted submission?
Submissions cannot be edited after being submitted. Please exercise caution when submitting. If there are any issues, please email the organizer.
Are there any other points to note?
Yes, it’s important to fill out the registration form accurately. Winners and finalists must provide their works free of charge to the organizer for promotional and publication purposes, and participants must adhere to relevant rules and regulations.
Why are paper submissions not accepted?
Due to the international collaboration environment in illustration and industry, only online submission is accepted to facilitate the judging process.
What rights will I retain if my work is selected?
You will retain all rights to your images. If selected, you will need to grant us the rights to reproduce or directly use the image solely for the purpose of this competition to assist in promoting the selected works for our online, digital, and print purposes.
After winning, the organizer will promote the winning works, which will include the event logo and the creator’s name (reproduction or direct use). It is advised to inform in advance to avoid any potential disputes. Any use of the images for digital or print purposes is for promotional purposes related to the competition award ceremony, aimed at attracting the public and businesses to view the winning works and facilitate connections. Therefore, it is non-commercial and without compensation.
If a work is selected, will you require us to provide high-resolution files?
Yes, if your work is selected, we will request high-resolution files at that time.
